No CommentsElise’s experience of differing cultural ideas of ‘normal’ shaped her deep interest in anthropology, which she parlayed into tutoring at both ANU and the University of Sydney. Her decade-plus career in qualitative and quantitative market and social research was sparked by curiosity about how the sportswear brands associated with her hobbies of snowboarding and surfing are worn as badges of identity – the cultural, power and identity implications of how we display what we consume. Elise holds a Ph.D in Cultural Anthropology from the Australian National University, and a Masters in Cultural Anthropology from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and she is the recipient of a Rotary International Ambassador Scholarship.

Adventure-loving, ethically-minded James’ interest in research springs from time spent both as a radio reporter ‘digging around for stories’ and from his involvement in mental health organisations where a wealth of statistics belies a lack of human, emotion-based research. A long-time observer of brands, logos and hallmarks of visual identity, he is intrigued by how brands can retain relevance through authenticity and accountability. James holds a Bachelor of Business majoring in Management and Statistics from the University of Technology Sydney.
